About Us » Welcome!

I believe that life is basically a process of growth - that we go through many lives, choosing situations and problems that we will learn through.

Who We Are

School Lane Charter School brings together teachers, parents and students as active participants in a safe environment that nurtures children and prepares them for lifelong success.

We offer a unique public school alternative for families who demand high expectations for all students and support for each student as an individual with specific gifts and needs. From day one, students gain confidence to explore new things, discover their strengths, and constructively learn from their mistakes.

School Lane is an inclusive community of educators and families from diverse backgrounds, melding together a unique learning environment that broadens students' perspectives, preparing them to succeed in our ever-changing world.

  • Most of our students reside in Bensalem. Others live elsewhere in Bucks County and the Greater Philadelphia area.
  • Our student body is ethnically diverse.
  • We share a firm belief that schools succeed when teachers, parents and students have more choices and opportunities, coupled with greater personal responsibility and accountability.

How We Teach

School Lane empowers teachers to differentiate instruction through methods that correspond best with the learning styles of individual students.

  • Relationship-Based Learning: School Lane elementary and middle school teachers stay with their students for two years, developing a strong teacher-student bond that by its nature creates a stronger hunger for learning within each child.
  • Small Class Sizes: The average classroom has 25 students and every elementary and most middle school classroom includes a second teacher who provides extra support for part of every day. Small class sizes and added teaching support ensures each child receives the individual attention he or she needs to excel.
  • Extended Learning Opportunities: Our school day is one hour longer than the local school district and our school year includes ten additional teaching days. This leads to deeper mastery of academics along with greater exposure to enrichment activities.

What We Teach

School Lane provides everything parents expect from a high-quality public education, with distinct additional programs.

  • A Smart Start: Foreign language and computer lessons begin in our full-day Kindergarten classes.
  • Strong Bilingual Foundation: By eighth grade, students learn the equivalent of high school Spanish.
  • Strength in Technology: With school-wide Internet access, wireless laptop computers, and Kindles for our upper grade levels, technology is easily integrated with traditional learning methods.
  • Diversity in Learning: Multi-cultural perspectives and global awareness are emphasized across the curriculum.
  • International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program: School Lane is Bucks County’s first public school officially designated to offer the IB Middle Years Program. The program designed for grades 6-10 connects traditional subjects with the real world.
    • As an IB World School, SLCS is included in a global network of schools; students benefit from an internationally renowned curriculum framework and system of assessment; and faculty receives the support of proven programs of professional development.
