Admission to School Lane Charter School follows the process and procedures set forth in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Charter School law. SLCS is a public school and open to all students who live in the Commonwealth. As per the law, siblings of current students are given first priority for any openings. Bensalem residents receive second priority. Residents of other districts are accepted only after the sibling and Bensalem wait lists have been exhausted for that grade level.
To apply for placement on the wait list for grades 1 – 12 parents need to bring the following documents to either School Lane campus from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm any school day: the child’s original State issued birth certificate with raised seal, immunization record, and proof of residency. Bensalem and Council Rock residents need to bring 4 proofs of residency; all other districts need to bring 2 proofs of residency. Proofs of residency include driver's licence, car insurance card, car registration card, utility bills, such as: electric, gas, water, sewer, phone (landline and/or cell), lease or closing documents. All proofs of residency must include your current address. SLCS Applications do not leave our building. Applications must be filled out at one of the SLCS campuses at 2400 Bristol Pike or 3350 Tillman Drive. An application is not considered complete and student placed on the wait list until all paperwork has been received. All applications for grades 1-12 are both time and date stamped when complete for purposes of wait list order.
The first day a parent can submit an application for Bensalem residents is the fourth Saturday in January preceding the August of enrollment. We open the doors at 9:00 am and take applications until 11:00 am. SLCS takes applications for the waiting list and make placements throughout the school year up to March 1.
The first day a parent can submit an application for residents of other districts besides Bensalem is the first Saturday in February preceding the August of enrollment. SLCS takes applications on this Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
Student enrollment for kindergarten is by lottery. Students must be 5 years old by September 1 the year they are enrolling in kindergarten to be eligible for application and enrollment. You must complete your application prior to the fourth Monday in February to be considered part of the lottery for the school year beginning the following August. Kindergarten applicants need to bring the same information listed above in order to complete an application at SLCS. Children’s names are placed on the waitlist in order they are drawn at our public school board meeting lottery on the fourth Thursday in February. After the Kindergarten lottery any additional new applicants will be placed at the bottom of the list by order of time and date of completed application.
Kindergarten acceptance/enrollment calls begin the third week in March prior to August enrollment. Once you receive enrollment acceptance, you need to complete additional paperwork by the given deadline date in order to guarantee your child’s enrollment/space at SLCS.
Grade 1- 12 Enrollment
Currently, SLCS’s enrollment is full. In order for your child to attend SLCS, a current student would need to withdraw from School Lane Charter School in order for an opening to occur. Openings are filled through March 1 of the current school year. Once your have submitted a complete application, you will only be notified if a spot becomes available for your student. School Lane will notify via phone call if your child is accepted for enrollment. If you receive a phone call regarding your child’s acceptance at School Lane, you will have 24 hours to respond to the call/voicemail message that has been left. If we do not hear from you within the 24 hour time mentioned your child will lose their spot at School Lane.
If your child has not received an acceptance call for enrollment before or during the school year you applied, you must re-apply each year for placement on School Lane Charter School’s waiting list.
