About School Lane Charter School

At School Lane Charter School, we bring together teachers, parents and students as active participants in a community dedicated to nurturing children and preparing them to succeed.

School Lane is, first and foremost, a safe environment in which students gain the confidence to try new things, to learn from their mistakes, to discover their strengths and to unleash their curiosity on the world. We offer a unique alternative for families who want both high expectations for all students and support for each student as an individual with specific gifts and needs.

How We Teach

School Lane gives teachers the time and support they need to differentiate instruction in ways that match the learning styles of individual students.

  • School Lane teachers stay with their students for two years, encouraging a strong teacher-student bond.
  • The average classroom has 22 students and every classroom has a second teacher providing extra support for part of every day.
  • Our school day is one hour longer and our school year has ten additional teaching days to provide more time for learning. This leads to deeper mastery of academics along with greater exposure to enrichment activities.

What We Teach

School Lane provides everything parents expect from a high quality public education, with distinctive additional programs.

  • Foreign language and computer lessons begin in our full-day Kindergarten classes.
  • By eighth grade, students are learning the equivalent of high school Spanish.
  • With school-wide Internet access and many wireless laptop computers, technology is easily integrated with traditional learning methods.
  • Multi-cultural perspectives and global awareness are emphasized across the curriculum.

Who We Are

School Lane is an inclusive community of educators and families from diverse backgrounds.

  • Most of our students come from Bensalem. Others live elsewhere in Bucks County and the Greater Philadelphia area.
  • Our student body is ethnically diverse, too: approximately 59% Caucasian, 13% African-American, 13% Indian and 8% Hispanic.
  • We have in common a firm belief that schools succeed when teachers, parents and students have more choices and opportunities, coupled with greater personal responsibility and accountability.
