Students are preparing meals to donate to those in need

The 5th graders spent much of the first trimester learning about Human Rights. They read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a document created and adopted by the United Nations after World War II.  They then read  firsthand accounts of people around the world who currently face human rights challenges. As a service learning component of the unit of study, the 5th graders organized a fundraiser across the school where students brought in parts of a thanksgiving meal.  The 5th graders then spent a morning preparing the meals, which were later donated to an organization that could serve them to those in need for the holiday.
