Web Design Club Update – November
The Web Design Club has had an exciting month filled with creativity and learning! Every Monday from 3:20 PM to 4:20 PM, students gather to explore the art of building websites from scratch. So far, members have mastered the basics of HTML and CSS, equipping them to create functional and visually appealing web pages.
Looking ahead, they will dive deeper into CSS with topics like animations, layouts, and responsive design. In addition to regular meetings, we are excited to announce that the club will participate in an upcoming hackathon! This will be a fantastic opportunity for members to apply their skills in a fun, competitive environment, work as a team, and develop real-world projects under time pressure.
Whether you’re new to coding or have prior experience, the Web Design Club offers something for everyone. Join us and be part of the journey—new members are always welcome!

Last Friday, 7th grade students presented skits for their Interdisciplinary Unit. Building on knowledge and skills gained in Spanish and Performing Arts classes, students examined how to communicate without words. The skits acted out how to communicate without sharing a language. Interdisciplinary Units are an important part of the IB MYP. They ask students to bring knowledge from at least 2 subject areas to solve real world problems.

8th Grade Advisories visit with Veterans. Students are creating an oral history video of the Veterans' experience to share with their families.

DP Chemistry Seniors traveled to GKN Hoeganaes Powder Mettallury Innovation Facility to have a hands on lab experience testing powdered metals used in 3-D printers. Students used skills from the classroom in this real world setting and had the opportunity to see how scientific thinking and research produce new products that support sustainability of the world’s natural resources. SLCS continue to look to bridge learning from the classroom to real world. Please contact SLCS if you have a company that would be interested in partnering with us for providing these learning experiences.

All families and staff are invited to attend a virtual presentation "Just Talk About It" from Minding Your Mind.
